Taking the Sermon Home

Hey parents!

This year, I'm going to try to post more resources for you on this blog. Starting this week, I'll be posting each Monday about how to "take the sermon home." Using Pastor Stef's sermon notes, I'll be putting together some questions to talk about as a family each week. You can use these questions when you're in the car with your kids, at the dinner table, etc. They are best to do as a whole family if you're able. It's just one quick way to connect with your kids about what you're learning at church, especially for those families that either don't sit together during the service or who are out of the service at different times because of volunteer work. Enjoy!

Sept. 7 Sermon - TREES

This week Pastor Stef preached on TREES, our church's core values. TREES stands for Teaching, Relating (fellowship), Evangelising, Exalting (worship) and Serving.

  1. Which of the 5 values do you find easiest to do in your own life? What do you find most challenging?
  2. What was your favourite part of the sermon? Did anything strike you as particularly interesting or important?
  3. Teaching - what about your faith are you already confident about? What areas do you want to learn more?
  4. Relating - who are your closest friends at church and how did you build your friendship? What are some ways you can reach out to new people?
  5. Evanglelising - who is someone in your life that you want to share your faith with? Have everyone share one friend and then pray for them together.
  6. Exalting - what does it mean to worship God all the time? Do you connect with him during musical worship or a different activitiy?
  7. Serving - what is something you are good at? How can you use that gift to serve God?
