Youth Sunday School Nov. 4 - Creation lesson #1

This week we had the first of two lessons about creation in youth Sunday school. The great thing about this topic is that Christians can have different opinions about creation and that's okay because it doesn't impact salvation (so long as we believe God is the sole creator!). Some people believe in a literal 6 day creation, and others believe that God used evolution, and we can all still get along even when we disagree! Awesome!

This Sunday we read the first two chapters of Genesis and discussed the passage. Students also worked in groups to further discuss some questions. We also went over "universal truths" that all Christians believe about creation.

Here are some talking points to follow up with your child:

  • When the Bible says that God rested on the seventh day, what do you think that means?
  • When did God say something was not good? Why do you think he said that? (that man was alone)
  • What can we learn from God’s character based on the account of creation?
  • Why do you think God didn’t give more info to the author?
  • What are some universal truths about creation? (God created alone and for pleasure, he created substances too, he created time and eternity, etc.)
