This week the preteens had their first of three lessons on the Trinity. Because we're trying to keep the lessons fairly concrete (preteens haven't mastered abstract thinking), this was a tough topic to plan! This week we learned about God's character, next week will focus on incorrect teachings about the Trinity, and we'll wrap up at the end of the month with an overview of each member of the Trinity. Students WILL have questions, and not just because they have trouble with abstract topics!
Here are some talking points you can use to follow up with your child:
- What are some words we can use to describe God's character?
- What word BEST explains God's character? (Love)
- What are the roles of each member of the Trinity? (we went over the Father as lover and plan-maker, Son as beloved and plan implementer, and the Spirit as spirit of love and plan administer)
- What are some questions you have about this lesson? (please feel free to pass them on to me!!)
