Summmmmmer

It's been awhile since we posted.. whoops!

We only had two events after May Camp - one last Alive night, and our Pirates vs. Ninjas wrap-up party. Both went really well. Thanks again to all the parents who sent along food with your kids to the wrap-up - we were well fed and really appreciate it.

Since the wrap-up, we've done a couple of events - one was a girls' tea party (we all dressed up and had the party at Brad and Colleen's clubhouse in their complex - we had a great time!) and the other was supposed to be a beach day, but the weather was lousy so we had a games and movies day at the church instead.

During this break, Brad and I have both been busy with youth ministry stuff - reading books about it, hanging out with kids, and planning summer events and looking forward to the fall. I find it hard to focus on the summer because the fall is always a lot more work - more planning, more kids, etc. We'll continue Alive nights in the fall, alternating between them and our 'fun events' - we dislike that name though, because Alive is fun too! Therefore, we've decided to rename the 'fun' events 'Revolution nights.' So now we have Alive nights and Revolution nights. We settled on the name because every other name we came across has been taken, sometimes multiple times, by churches in the area (Ignite, Impact, etc.) and 'cool' names can easily become 'cliche' names for that reason. I loved Revolution because aren't youth events sort of a revolution? Kids of all ages, hanging out at church, having fun at church, not our partying on a Friday night? Kinda goes against the norm, or at least what society expects of teenagers.

We've got some cool changes coming in the fall, but I'll keep my lips zipped for now, except to mention (again) that we will be starting a preteen ministry and are looking for dedicated, energetic leaders of all ages to serve this age group - either on Sundays teaching, on Fridays leading, or both! If you are interested please drop me a line at the church, on Facebook, or by email at aschmidke@bethanybaptist.bc.ca.

Penned (how fancy) at the desk of Amanda (it sounds so official...)
