May Camp 2011

Well, here it is the Sunday afternoon of May Camp and it has been great so far.

We all finally arrived up at Green Bay late on Friday night. I (Brad) had driven up early along with Jason, our speaker for the weekend. The bus left Bethany around 4:00 on Friday, right on schedule. However, traffic accidents and long weekend traffic made for a loooooong trip up to Green Bay. Everyone got here safely though so we were thankful for that.

We've joined with some other churches as well: New Beginnings from Surrey, Sunshine Ridge from Surrey, Ebenezer from Vancouver and Lakeview Heights from West Kelowna. It has been great to see so many familiar faces again.

Jason has been doing great with a challenging theme this year. Our theme is "What's the Big Idea" and each chapel session he is discussing a big concept about God. On Saturday morning he talked about the fact that God is ultimately all about His own glory - this is a biblical concept but it is one that we don't often think about. Jason did a great job explaining why God isn't selfish because He is focused on His own glory.

Saturday night Jason talked about God's holiness... another great talk. This morning (Sunday) he talked about God's grace - how we receive so much from Him that we don't deserve and can never  earn.

This afternoon we've got more games planned - we've already played capture the fish (this year featuring octopus!). We'll see if we can tear people away from the Canucks game!
