Summer Event Calendar 2015

Below are ALL summer events for grade 6-12 students for June and July. Please note that some events have age restrictions and/or deadlines for RSVP and permission forms. Please read all details if you are planning to come to any or all of our summer events!

June Events

June 8 & 15 - Study Buddy Nights - 6-8pm in the Attic (gym doors unlocked) for grade 8-12
We are opening the youth room for a quiet place to study for any or all upcoming exams you have. Working on projects is fine too and we have lots of supplies. Connor has a science background and Amanda is a certified English/Socials teacher so we can help with provincial exam prep. Feel free to bring friends. Event is FREE but if you want dinner bring $5 for pizza.

June 14 - Church Picnic - all afternoon after church is done (12:15pm onwards) 
Meet at Ryall Park. For the whole church, but look for the youth as we will probably be hanging out together!

June 19 - School's Out Vancouver - 7pm-midnight - find your own ride to Playland - grade 7-12
This is a multi-church private party at Playland for all youth. Buy your ticket online here and find your own ride to and from the park. Feel free to post in our Facebook group to arrange carpools. Parents, we cannot guarantee constant supervision of all students so if you would prefer that to happen, you are more than welcome to join us. Regular park passes are not valid.


July Events

VBS Crossover week @ Bethany.  For students going into grade 6-9 after VBS is done—12:15PM-3PM July 6-9.  

Join us upstairs after VBS for a week of fun activities and games!  Bring a bagged lunch everyday except Monday.  All events are free!

• Monday July 6: Hot Dogs & Games—Join us in the Attic for a hot dog lunch and icebreaker games
• Tuesday July 7: Field Games & Ice Cream—After lunch we are heading to McLean Park for outdoor field games and ending with 10 foot ice cream sundaes at the church!  Bring a bagged lunch, sunscreen, water, and running shoes.
• Wednesday July 8: Paint Wars—After lunch we are heading to McLean Park for paint games!  Bring old clothes, a white t-shirt,  towel, change of clothes, bagged lunch, sunscreen and water. Permission forms for beach day are due this day.
• Thursday July 9: Beach Day—We are going to Centennial Beach for fun beach activities.  Meet in the youth room as we are driving together. Bring a bagged lunch, blanket/chair, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water, and activities.  We will return to the church at 4PM.  A signed permission form is required for this event on Wednesday so we can arrange rides.

Games Nights @ Bethany.  Monday, July 13 AND 27 from 7PM-9PM for students going into grade 6-12.  

Join us for an evening of board games and video games.  Feel free to bring your own games as well (video games must have a rating of E or be approved by the leaders). Concession will be open and proceeds go to our sponsor child (gr 6-7s have a $3 spending limit)

Lynn Canyon.  Thursday, July 16 from 10AM-3PM for those going into grade 6-12.  

We are heading to Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver for a day of hiking and swimming (for those brave enough)!  Meet at the church and bring along runners, water, sunscreen, lunch, and a swimsuit/towel if you want to jump into the icy water. RSVP to Amanda by Tuesday July 14. Permission forms due upon arrival.

BBQ and Movie Night.  Monday, July 20 @ 8517 108th Ave, North Delta from 6PM-9PM for those going into grade 6-12.  

Join us for a BBQ and movie (rated G or PG) at Amanda’s parent’s place. Bring a dessert, salad, or snack to share, and backyard activities (optional).

Cultus Lake Waterslides.  Thursday, July 23 from 1PM-9PM for those going into grade 8+.  

Meet us @ Bethany for an afternoon of sliding at the Cultus Lake Waterslides!  Cost is $20 per person + tax. Please RSVP by July 21 so we can arrange rides. Permission form due upon arrival. Bring swimsuit, towel, dinner, or money for dinner.

Fireworks @ English Bay.  Wednesday, July 29 for those going into grade 8+ (College and Career invited too)!  

Meet at 4PM at Metrotown Skytrain station to head downtown to the Celebration of Light Fireworks.  We are heading down early to get a good spot to watch the show at 10PM.  The fireworks are free, but bring money for the Skytrain, dinner (or bring a bagged dinner), as well as a blanket/chair, swimsuit/towel, and warm clothes. Contact a leader to carpool, and contact Amanda if you will meet us elsewhere!
