Crossover Week 2015 Recap

Well, I can hear the kids outside playing games at their last morning of VBS and it sure is bittersweet. After VBS each day this week we had Crossover events for our preteens and youth to welcome up the new grade of students and build relationships throughout all grades - it was an awesome week!

We broke attendance records this year with about 50-55 kids attending each day!! WOW!!! The group was so big we had to rent a bus for beach day just to fit everyone! Sometimes having that many kids in a room (or on the field) can be overwhelming, but we actually had a very easy week because our students are so great! No fights, no bad behaviour, no nothing!!! Each and every one of the kids who attended our events were a joy to have and to get to know. Thank you for letting us share our week with you!!! You are all so kind, helpful, and fun to be around! We are SO excited for our upcoming school year and look forward to getting to know you even better. I know that the next school year will be a fantastic one because of each of you!

On Monday, we did indoor games and a hot dog lunch. We play games that help us get to know everyone a bit better, and I can now say with confidence that I learned everyone's name that day! We had a fun afternoon eating, laughing, and being silly together.

Check out our group!! Playing some "animal whack" together.

On Tuesday, we headed to the park for some field games with our new Earth Ball. Boy was it fun! Of course, it was also super hot, so we made "10 foot sundaes" to cool off. We use (new) gutters and pack them full of ice cream and toppings to enjoy together.

Lowen, Bob and Sean got the Earth Ball to the field for us

On Wednesday, it was PAINT WARS - our most popular summer event. Everyone started out with a clean white T-shirt and by the end we were just covered in yellow, blue, green and red! The games were a hit and it was a fun way to cool off in the sun. Of course, my favourite part is watching everyone get hosed down in the parking lot after!

Matt was already pretty colourful before he got a pool of green dumped on him!

Nolan, Micah and Adam are paint buddies

Ethan's shirt looks good enough to sell in a store!

Brady, one of our sr. highs, was super helpful but also had some fun

Finally, on Thursday we hopped on the bus and headed to Centennial beach for some afternoon fun. The tide was actually in this year so students could do some swimming. It was the perfect beach weather and it was fun to watch people playing frizbee, zwimming, playing on the playground, and even burying friends in the sand.

Some girlfriends having fun burying Eva in the sand (yup, she's under that mound!)

Lowen and Adam have such beautiful hair-dos!

Today we have no event because we have a pretty big clean up ahead of us - but Crossover isn't the end of our summer! The season is just beginning and we are stoked to see everyone next week for Games Night (Monday July 13) and Lynn Canyon (Thursday July 16). Be sure to check out our summer calendar details for each event this month!
