'90s Night

This year, our school year wrap up party is a 90's Night theme! We chose it because it's the last year that everyone in youth is born in the '90s! I've already had a few kids ask me how they can possibly dress up for the 1990s... I guess they were too young to remember all of these awesome '90s trends! Hope they help :)

Movies: Jurrasic Park, Forest Gump, The Lion King, Men in Black, the Toy Stories, Mrs. Doubtfire

Television (the BEST decade for TV!!): Beverly Hills 90210, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Home Improvement, Rugrats, Sailor Moon, Power Rangers, Friends, Third Rock from the Sun, Seinfeld, That 70s Show, Sponge Bob, Baywatch, Full House, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z

Music: Green Day, Blink 182, Dr Dre, Spice Girls, Aqua, Backstreet Boys, NSync, Hanson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera

Other trends: video games (Sega, N64, etc), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Polly Pocket, My Little Pony, Super Soakers, Creepy Crawlers, Furby, Animorphs, Sonic the Hedgehog, BEANIE BABIES, troll dolls, Tamogotchi, Hot Wheels, roller blades, Goosebumps book series, the start of Harry Potter

Technology: brick-sized cell phones, Internet was new, home computers by the mid-90s (which means games like Roller Coaster Tycoon), email got popular, fear of Y2K, USBs invented, laptops, pagers, first text sent in 1992, cars had CD drives, automatic car door locks.

Fashion (this is a big one!): grunge music influenced clothing, neon colours, oversized sweaters, babydoll dresses, platform shoes, matching jeans and denim jackets, bike shorts, loafers, cowboy boots, leotards, parachute pants, gypsie tops, overalls, conch or pooka-shell necklaces, acid wash denim, polo shirts with popped collars, cargo pants, tear-aways, Keds, Converse, mushroom cuts, sleek hair, bangs, scrunchies.
