Crossover #3: Water Wars

Well, I must say that Water Wars is one of my least favourite events to plan and run. Filling up water balloons takes days (I do it in the mornings during VBS each day) but only seconds to go through all of them if we have a freestyle water fight. That's why we play water games all afternoon instead, it stretches the balloon rations and still keeps us cool! This year was actually a lot of fun because I tried a few games we haven't done before and the kids had a good time!

We played some relay and team games, as well as a field game and then ended it off with a water fight. My favourite games this year were new - we did a relay where each team member had to use their mouths to transport water balloons and the different techniques made for some great photos. Then we did a team game where everyone had to lay on their backs in a circle and used their feet to balance a bucket of water. Then each team member had to take their feet off the bucket one at a time until the buckets finally fell.

One of the relay teams... Jack, Brady, Dakota, Ethan and William

Jack definitely had the funniest faces for this game!
After the games we headed back to the church for my absolute favourite part of Water Wars (acutally, one of my favourite summer moments each year!). Every year, we all get together against the outside gym wall to take a "group photo." Little do the new kids know, we have people waiting with buckets of water on the roof to dump on them when we say cheese! I love doing this for Crossover because we get so many kids who have no idea what's about to happen. Ethan and Sarah probably got it the worst this year - they were just drenched!!! CJ got a video clip from the roof and I took a video instead of a photo.

The lovely pre-prank photo :)

I really want to thank Bob, CJ, Dale, Ryan (who got stung by a bee on the foot, just like his brother did last year!), Riley, Kris, Frank, and Jack for being awesome helpers with all the games. Also, thanks to Brad for organizing the roof prank! All of our staff were standing in the office watching out the window too... pretty funny.
