Youth Scholarship

This year we are starting something new - scholarships! We raised money this year to fund two scholarships for McNair Secondary (our local high school) and actually raised enough to start a Bethany scholarship fund as well.

Starting this year (and hopefully every year after) we are offering a $500 scholarship to a Bethany student. Below is all the info you need to know about applying for this award.

This scholarship is open to:

  • Students who identify Bethany Baptist as their home church
  • Students who have graduated or are graduating between 2012-2014
  • Students who do not already receive funding from Bethany (some Bible schools have bursary-match programs - if Bethany has contributed to this, you are no longer eligible for this new scholarship)

Scholarship criteria:

We are looking for a student who has shown reliable and responsible attendance and participation at school and church, as well as a passion for volunteer work. If you have volunteer experience at school, church, and/or in your community, this award is for you! The chosen recipient will exemplify servant-leadership, one of our Student Ministry's core values, by serving others in various areas, working hard, and making an impact in the world around them.

How to apply:

Submit a resume or brag sheet highlighting all volunteer work from the past 3 years, along with a written response explaining why you are the best candidate for this scholarship award. Written responses should be no longer than one typed page. You may submit these documents either to me (Amanda Stevenson) in person, or via email (astevenson@bethanybaptist.bc.ca).

The deadline for scholarship applications is May 30, 2014. A small scholarship committee consisting of myself, Jake (a youth leader) and Rob (Manager of Church perations) will review all applications and announce the recipient in early June.
