Alive Jan 10 Recap & Discussion Questions (youth)

This past Friday at Alive we began our new series on gender, dating, marriage and sex. This is just for youth (grades 8-12). Here are follow up questions for parents - our topic was called "Boys and Girls" and my main point was that God created both men and women in his image so our identity should be in Christ and we should treat one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, instead of following the world's pattern of mistreating or disrespecting the opposite gender.

Questions to talk about with your teen:

  • How do you view the opposite gender? Have you ever thought about viewing them as “siblings?”
  • How would treating one another like siblings change the way guys and girls interact at your school? In culture?
  • What are some common ways guys and girls disrespect or mistreat each other?
  • How are women treated better than men in our society?
  • How are men treated better than women?
  • How can Jesus be our example to follow when it comes to treating other people, regardless of whether they are girls or guys?
  • What are some ways you can show respect, humility and service to the friends you have who are the opposite gender? What about people you aren’t friends with?
