Bible Study: Oct. 15

Dear parents,

This week Carlon's Bible study wrapped up their three-week series on tough questions. They tackled the question, “Can I trust the Bible?” This is a vital question to answer because as Christians, we use the Bible as the basis of our beliefs. The main Scripture was 2 Timothy 3:16.

The Bible is the greatest book ever written. This week we talked about how the Bible is inspired—it’s God-breathed—and reliable. We looked at it as a collection of books, all with the same theme of God’s involvement in humanity. We also saw how the Bible is able to change a person’s life—in fact it’s the only book that can affect you so deeply every time you read it.

This week, when you get a chance, talk to your teenager about some basic Bible facts. Share any information you know and ask questions to find out what your teenager knows. Don’t end the conversation with Bible facts, though; ask about how the Bible has affected decisions and actions. Offer to help your student find more time to study Scripture. You might want to also think about starting a family study, too, if you don’t already spend time together reading the Bible.

Here are some other questions that you could use during your conversation:
• How confident are you in the reliability and accuracy of the Bible? What kinds of information or evidence would increase your confidence, and why?
• How regularly do you spend time reading the Bible? How has your reading and understanding of Scripture affected your attitude and actions?
• How has your life been impacted by reading the Bible or by truths you’ve discovered in the Bible?
Thanks for your prayers for our small group ministry. Have an awesome week!

Next week, the group will begin a new four-week study called "Character Traits of God." As always, newcomers are always welcome!
