This was the first class we had without the preteens. Both age groups will be studying theology this year, but the youth will be going more in-depth and exploring different schools of thought for many of the topics.
This week we started with a discussion on what sets Christianity apart from other religions (grace). Next week we will follow up with why we know the Bible is true as well as a good way to approach studying it.
Parents, here are some questions to ask your teen to follow up on the lesson:
- When God created Adam and Eve, they had a perfect sin free relationship at first. Describe the elements of that relationship.
- What sets God apart from people?
- Why did Jesus come? Answer in one sentence
- Is doing good things to earn Heaven fair?
- When people believe they can earn God’s favour, how do you think he feels about it? Are we effective? Does being good cancel out our sins?
- What would true fairness be?
I recommend upgrading to a teen study Bible if students do not have one. There are plenty of great choices out there so check back because I'll post a few of my recommendations.
