This past week was Make a Movie night - it's not one of my favourite events but I had an awesome time this year! The theme was spoofs and it sounds like we had a lot of variety in the different movies. Two weeks ago we announced the new small group assignments for Alive nights so I opted to use the same groups for MAMN as a teambuilding event. I was talking to Steve, our custodian, who said he got quite a kick out of all the teens running around in superhero costumes, waving wans, swordfighting, making jello with office supplies in it, etc. It's a crazy event to outsiders, that's for sure! When the movies are edited, we will post them on our YouTube page for everyone to watch, and for adults and friends to vote on for our Oscars on Feb 17.
Speaking of YouTube, here's our Clue promo video - the first of many videos on our new channel!
Yesterday at Sunday School, our lesson focus was on prayer. We looked at 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Some questions that parents can ask their teens to follow up are:
- Why would God want us to practice joy, prayer, and thankfulness?
- How does prayer remind you that God is God?
- How can I help you or encourage you to spend more time in prayer?
This Friday is Alive and we will be starting a new small group curriculum. I'll update the blog with more info about the topic this week.
