Adventures In Anaheim

I'm sorry we weren't able to update our blog until tonight. We have had a busy couple of days in Anaheim.

Yesterday was our R & R day. Of course, that meant we had to be up at 6:00 so we could catch some taxis over to Disneyland. We spent the entire day checking out Disneyland and California Adventure. It was a LOOOONG day with a lot of walking.

I spent most of the day with John, Breanna, Heidi, Emily and Elysia. We went on a lot of rides. Heidi had a great plan put together as to which rides to go on first, which Fastpasses to get etc. The plan worked great... until we discovered that California Scremaing and the Tower of Terror were both closed. They reopened eventually but that threw the schedule out the window a bit.

One of the highlights was the Tower of Terror. Seeing the reactions of Heidi, Breanna and Emily was great (we're hoping to post a picture of their reaction at some point... it was pretty much priceless!).

Eventually we made our way back to Chapman... we got here around midnight and we all crashed. This morning was a sleep in day. Then we headed over to a restaurant called "Bruxie's". You probably haven't heard of Bruxie's: They serve waffle sandwiches. Belgian waffles wrapped around all sorts of savory or sweet fillings. Many of had the bacon, egg and cheddar sandwich but you could also get PB & J, Smores, chicken and more. Very good!

This afternoon we were able to register for the conference and got a bit more information about what we'd be doing. The schedule is pretty packed and we're looking forward to hearing what we'll be doing for our ministry site.

Tonight we had supper and then the first main session. The speaker was Mark Matlock and he spoke from John chapter 9. This is the story where Jesus heals the man born blind. After he is healed the Pharisees try to figure out what was going on. Eventually the man declared that all he knew is that he was blind but could now see.

Mark's point was that insight about Jesus is more important than simply having sight and he challenged us to become more aware of what God is doing and how he can be working in us this week.

Tomorrow I'm really looking forward to hearing from Mark Cahill. He has written a book called "One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven" which examines evangelism. He talks about a type of street evangelism that is heavily relational as well.

After the session we'll be heading to Huntington Beach. The students think it is just a beach day but we'll be going with a challenge: To put into practice the evanglistic tools that we learn from Mark Cahill. Please pray that we'll have the courage and boldness to approach strangers to tell them about Jesus Christ.

On Wednesday we'll be heading out to our ministry site! We're really looking forward to that component of our trip. Thanks again for your prayers!
